Howard Bonnell Spencer

(1871 – 1967)

Howard Spencer was born in 1871 in Plainfield, NJ.  He studied at the Art Students League, as well as with Frank DuMond and Walt Kuhn.  He was president of the Allied Artists of America from 1946-48, director of the Salmagundi Club from 1948-51, director of the American Artists Professional League and vice-president of the National Society of Painters in Casein.  He specialized in paintings of figures and in landscapes.
