Walter F. Lansil
(1846 - 1925)
Walter Franklin Lansil was born in Bangor, Maine in 1846 and lived in Boston and Dorchester throughout his professional life. Lansil trained in Bangor with J.P. Hardy and at the Academie Julian in Paris from 1880-1882. He retained a love for New England and Maine, painting marine scenes from Rockport to Monhegan even as he traveled to Venice to paint over and over again during his life. Lansil died in 1925.
