William Greason

(1884-1945)

William Greason was born in 1884 in Ontario Canada.  He studied painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts with H. Breckenridge and William Meritt Chase.  In 1890, he traveled to Paris to study at the Académie Julian with J.P. Laurens and Baschet.  He exhibited at the Detroit Museum of Art, Scarab Club, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Corcoran Gallery, and the Palm Beach Art Club.  He was a member of the Salmagundi Club in New York City, which was an early important art club that held regular exhibitions.  He lived in both New York City and Detroit, MI and is known for his landscapes, marine scenes and still lifes.  He died in 1945 in Detroit.
