Joseph Frank
Copeland was born in St. Louis, MO, in 1892. He studied at the
Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Art where he would
later teach as the Head of the Interior Design Department for 50
years. It was also there that he met his wife, artist Eleanor
Rogers Copeland. He was best known for his stained glass
windows and watercolors. He authored text books on design and
color that were published by International Text Book Company and
he was a founder of the Philadelphia Sketch Club as well as the
Philadelphia Watercolor Club.
