Everett Lloyd Bryant

(1864-1945)

Everett Lloyd Bryant was born in Galion, OH in 1864.  He began his art career by studying in Paris and London before returning back to the United States to study at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts with Thomas Anshutz, William Merritt Chase, and Hugh Breckenridge.  It was there that he met his future wife, fellow artist Maude Drein Bryant.  They lived and painted in Pennsylvania, then Baltimore, while they would spend their summers in southern Maryland, Maine and New Hampshire.  In 1930, they moved to California, where Bryant would continue to paint, taking sketching trips to Nevada and Arizona until he died in 1945.  He specialized in floral still lifes and preferred watercolor and oil.
